How is donkey milk actually used in everyday life? Most people drink it plain and well chilled, while others add it to coffee, muesli or desserts. Here we show you typical ways customers incorporate donkey milk into their day – without any promises, but with ideas for enjoyment, cooking and routine.
Enjoy it plain: the small glass in the morning
Many customers prefer to drink donkey milk plain. A small glass at breakfast is a popular routine. Donkey milk is thin, low in fat and tastes mild and slightly sweet. When well chilled, this taste comes particularly clearly to the fore.
Those who try donkey milk for the first time are often surprised by how light it feels in the mouth. How exactly donkey milk tastes, we describe in the post What does donkey milk taste like?
In coffee, tea and cocoa
A second common way of using it: as milk in a hot drink. A dash of donkey milk in coffee or tea gives a mild, slightly sweet note. In cocoa, the natural sweetness can mean that less sugar is needed.
- Heat donkey milk slowly and not too strongly.
- Try out different quantities until the mixture suits you.
- Small quantities are often enough for the taste.
Muesli, porridge and smoothies
In the morning, donkey milk ends up in muesli or porridge for many. Let oats soak with donkey milk, add fruit – done. It is also popular in smoothies with banana and berries.
For smoothies and small portions, some prefer to use the donkey milk powder. It is freeze-dried: 10 g of powder with 90 ml of water yield about 100 ml. This allows you to mix exactly the quantity that is currently needed.
Cooking and baking with donkey milk
Donkey milk can be used in many recipes like regular milk. Customers bake pancakes with it, prepare semolina pudding or rice pudding, or refine creams and sauces. Because donkey milk is lower in fat than whole milk, the results turn out a little lighter.
Those who like it hearty also try the donkey cheese. For one kilogram of donkey cheese, you need around 25 liters of donkey milk – accordingly rare is it. We collect many recipe ideas in the post Tasty recipes with donkey milk for everyday life.
