Buying donkey milk in Switzerland: what is available

Donkey milk is a rare food. A donkey gives about 1–2 liters of milk per day in addition to what her foal drinks. It is milked by hand and in small quantities. That is why you will hardly find liquid donkey milk in stores in Switzerland either.

• Farms in the region: A few donkey farms offer milk, often only in small quantities. Ask in advance and pay attention to the farm's instructions and those on the label.
• Local stores: You will more often find cosmetics with donkey milk. Pay attention to the percentage of donkey milk content.

Delivery to Switzerland: express and frozen

Our donkey milk is milked by hand on European farms, tested in a laboratory in Germany, and stored frozen. For the journey to Switzerland, we pack it in insulated packaging and ship it express (GO! Express).

3. Delivery to Switzerland usually takes place 24–48 hours after shipping.
4. You accept the package, inspect it, and immediately place the milk in the freezer.

Due to the shipping days on Mondays and Wednesdays, the shipment is not in transit over the weekend during regular delivery times. Nevertheless, plan the order so that you are available on the following days or that the package can be safely accepted – for example, at your workplace. Make room in the freezer beforehand so that the bottles can go straight in.

Customs and import duties

Switzerland is not part of the EU. Shipments from Germany may therefore be subject to import duties such as customs or value added tax on the import. Whether and to what extent depends, among other things, on the type of goods, the value of the goods, and the Swiss rules currently in force.

After delivery: proper storage

The first few minutes after delivery count. Do not leave the package for long in the hallway, mailbox room, or warm car. If you are not yet familiar with donkey milk, it is worth taking a look beforehand at what donkey milk tastes like.

• Open and inspect the package immediately after delivery.
• Store donkey milk frozen at −18 °C.
• Thaw slowly in the refrigerator (2–7 °C).
• If the packaging is damaged or the goods have clearly thawed: photograph the condition and contact us.
• Please pay attention to the instructions on the label.
