If you want to buy donkey milk cosmetics, you should pay attention to one figure above all: the percentage of donkey milk. It varies widely between products – from clearly double-digit values to very small amounts. Added to this are the position in the INCI list, information about the origin, the packaging, and a fair price comparison per milliliter. In this buying guide, we show you how to categorize products and introduce our range.

What to look for when buying donkey milk cosmetics

  • Percentage of donkey milk: The most important criterion. A clearly stated percentage shows how much donkey milk is actually in the product. In drugstores and retail stores, you can also find products in which donkey milk is only contained in very small quantities, although it is heavily advertised on the packaging. If there is no percentage stated, it is worth taking a closer look at the ingredients.
  • Position in the INCI list: Ingredients are listed on cosmetics in descending order of their quantity; substances in very low concentrations may be listed in any order at the end. If donkey milk is listed directly after water, the content is high. If it is listed far down, it is usually only a small amount. Look for terms such as "Donkey Milk", "Eselsmilch", or "Asses Milk".
  • Origin of the milk: Donkey milk is a rare raw material because a donkey gives only small quantities. Reputable suppliers can say where their milk comes from. Ask if in doubt.
  • Packaging: Pumps, tubes, or bottles with a small opening are practical because you do not have to remove the product with your fingers. Also pay attention to the indication of shelf life after opening.
  • Price per ml: Package sizes vary widely. Calculate the price per 100 ml and compare it with the donkey milk content. A low price with a very small content is not a real bargain.
  • Honest advertising claims: Cosmetics care for the skin. Promises that sound like they treat skin problems do not belong on a cosmetic product.

Frequently asked questions

How can I tell how much donkey milk is in a product?

The most reliable way is a percentage stated by the manufacturer. If it is missing, the position of donkey milk in the INCI list gives a clue: the further forward, the higher the content.

Why are donkey milk cosmetics more expensive than other care products?

Donkey milk is rare. A donkey gives only about 1–2 liters of milk per day in addition to the foal, and it is milked in small quantities. A high content in the formulation therefore makes itself felt in the price. You can read the background in the article Why donkey milk is so rare.

Are donkey milk cosmetics suitable for every skin type?

How a product feels is individual. Donkey milk contains milk protein. If you react to milk components, consult a doctor before use. For sensitive skin, a short test on the forearm provides initial guidance.

Can I give donkey milk cosmetics as a gift?

Yes, donkey milk cosmetics are also suitable as a gift. If you are unsure which skin type is present, the Body Milk or the 3-in-1 product is a versatile choice.
