Why this sponsorship exists

Donkeys have become rare in Germany. People who keep them rarely do so for economic reasons — but because they want to. Feed, hoof care, vet, shelter: all of this costs money that a donkey does not earn back.

We visit these farms. We film there, we learn there, and we support some of the keepers directly — financially and with reach. That is exactly what your sponsorship helps to fund.

We have visited every farm we show ourselves.

Three levels. You decide.

All prices include 19% VAT. The term is 6 months and then ends automatically — you don't have to cancel anything.

Your sponsorship certificate

Within a few days of signing up, you will receive a certificate issued in your name as a PDF — with date, level and signature. To print, hang up or give as a gift.

Your ongoing discount

5, 10 or 15% on everything in the shop — for the entire term. If you order donkey milk regularly, you get part of your contribution straight back.

Insights nobody else gets

Footage that doesn't make it into our reels. Reports from farms we have just visited. And the context behind what can be seen publicly.

What the money is used for

We deliberately keep this transparent, without promising fixed percentages that we cannot guarantee in the long term:

Direct support for keepers — contributions to feed, care and vet costs at the farms we work with
Our farm visits — travel, time and production of the footage showing how donkeys actually live in Germany
Educational work — guides, videos and articles on husbandry, health and behaviour
Running the sponsorship — certificates, newsletter, payment processing

How it works

1. Choose a level

You decide which contribution you want to take part with.

2. Sign up

Signing up works like a normal order. The contribution is charged monthly for six months.

3. Receive your certificate

Within a few days, you will receive your personal sponsorship certificate as a PDF by email.

4. Use your discount

Your discount applies immediately to all orders during the term.

5. After 6 months

The sponsorship ends automatically. You don't have to do or cancel anything. We will get in touch beforehand and you decide again.

FAQ

Do I then own a donkey?

No. The donkeys live with their keepers and stay there. A sponsorship does not transfer ownership of or any rights to a particular animal. You support the work that makes keeping them possible.

Can I visit “my” donkey?

A right to visit is not part of the sponsorship. The farms are private businesses, not visitor farms. We cannot guarantee occasional invitations to events — if there are any, sponsors will hear about them first.

Is my contribution tax-deductible?

No. DON DONKEY'S® is a commercial company and not a charity. Your sponsorship is a paid membership with benefits in return, not a donation. We cannot issue a donation receipt.

How long does the sponsorship run?

Exactly 6 months. After that it ends automatically — there is no tacit renewal. You don't have to cancel or unsubscribe from anything.

What happens after the 6 months?

We will get in touch with you in good time before the end. If you want to continue, simply sign up again. If not, the sponsorship expires and the payments stop.

Can I leave early?

The term is fixed, so early termination is generally not provided for. If your circumstances change, write to us anyway — we will find a solution.

How exactly does the discount work?

You receive a personal discount that applies for the entire term — 5, 10 or 15% depending on the level, on all regularly priced items. It cannot be combined with other discount promotions and does not apply to shipping costs. The discount ends when the sponsorship ends.

Do I have a right of withdrawal?

Yes. As a consumer, you can withdraw from the contract within 14 days without giving reasons. All details are in our cancellation policy.

Can I give a sponsorship as a gift?

Yes. When signing up, enter the name of the recipient and we will issue the certificate in that name. Get in touch briefly if you need it by a certain date.

What happens to my data?

We use your data exclusively to process the sponsorship and for the sponsor newsletter. Your name will only be mentioned on our page if you expressly request it. Details in our privacy policy.
