Turmeric latte, also known as “golden milk,” is a warming, spiced drink made with turmeric, ginger, and cinnamon. Donkey milk makes it particularly mild, as its subtle sweetness rounds off the spices.
Ingredients for 1 cup
- 250 ml donkey milk (thawed)
- ½ tsp ground turmeric
- ¼ tsp ground ginger or one thin slice of fresh ginger
- 1 pinch of cinnamon
- 1 pinch of black pepper
- 1 tsp honey or maple syrup, to taste
Preparation
- Mix the spices: In a small saucepan, stir the turmeric, ginger, cinnamon, and pepper with 2 tbsp of donkey milk until smooth.
- Heat gently: Add the remaining donkey milk and heat over low heat while stirring until warm. Do not boil.
- Steep: Let steep for 2 minutes. Remove the fresh ginger afterward.
- Sweeten: Taste and sweeten with honey or maple syrup in the cup.
- Froth: If desired, froth briefly with a milk frother.

Tips
- Turmeric stains strongly – rinse the saucepan and frother immediately after use.
- With donkey milk powder: Dissolve 25 g of powder in 225 ml of warm water and stir in the spices.
- Can also be served cold as an iced latte with a few ice cubes.
