Fresh donkey milk requires a freezer – rarely practical when traveling. This is where donkey milk powder shines: It is lightweight, space-saving, and can be quickly mixed with water. This way, you can take donkey milk with you on vacation, business trips, or for the weekend.
Before the trip: portion correctly
- Calculate the quantity: For each planned 100 ml serving, you need approximately 10 g of powder.
- Fill the portions: Fill the powder into small, clean, and tightly sealable containers.
- Label: Note the contents and the best-before date from the original packaging.
- Store dry: Moisture is the biggest enemy of milk powder. An additional zip-lock bag protects against leaks from other liquids in the suitcase.
Prepare on the go

- Water: Use drinking water. When abroad, it is best to use water from sealed bottles.
- Temperature: Room-temperature or slightly chilled water mixes well.
- Small helpers: A mini whisk or a small shaker prevent lumps.
Air travel
Powdered foods may be additionally inspected at security. The rules vary depending on the airport and destination country. Check with your airline in advance and keep the powder in the labeled original packaging or in clearly marked containers if possible. Also, observe the import regulations of your travel destination for dairy products.
Storage in a hotel or holiday home
- Store in a dry, cool place away from light, for example in a cupboard instead of on the windowsill.
- Close the container tightly after each use.
- Use a dry spoon.
